Sacramental Preparation

The Catechism of the Catholic Church lists the sacraments as follows: “The whole liturgical life of the Church revolves around the Eucharistic sacrifice and the sacraments. There are seven sacraments in the Church: Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist, Penance, Anointing of the Sick, Holy Orders, and Matrimony.[4]

The Seven Sacraments of the Church were instituted by Christ. The sacraments touch all the stages of a Christian’s life and represent milestones in a Christian’s life. The Sacraments offer a natural connection to the spiritual journey. The Sacraments can be divided up into three categories: Christian Initiation which consists of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist; the Sacraments of Healing which are Penance and Reconciliation, and Annointing of the Sick; and finally the Sacraments at the Service of Communion: Holy Orders and Matrimony.
